In June, we confirmed that Aida has three kittens this year and we set a few camera traps near one of the dens. During the denning period, females move their kittens quite often to protect them from potential predators. Our cameras captured the moments when Aida was transferring the kittens.
Aida seems to be a good and caring mother that knows how to handle her kittens. However, not all kittens are expected to survive to the adulthood (usually the mortality in the first year is around 50%), so we are looking forward to the new season of camera trapping and non-invasive genetic sampling to learn how many kittens will survive.
