Posted - May 26, 2022

Last week, on Friday, May 20, 2022, we held a meeting of the Local Consultative Group “Gorski Kotar” in the premises of the Risnjak National Park. The aim of the meeting was to gather again the representatives of the local community interested in the activities of the LIFE Lynx project, but also the wider issue of lynx management in Croatia and share the results achieved so far within the project. The lecture itself was given by Vedran Slijepčević, who is the most active LIFE Lynx team member in the area of Gorski Kotar.

Vedran Slijepčević explains the way lynx is marking his territory and the principle of non-invasive sampling.

On this occasion, we also presented the information board about the effort to save the lynx population in the Dinarides and the Lynx Walk, set up as part of the LIFE Lynx project (action E.6) in cooperation with NP Risnjak. The presentation of the board was attended by students of the Karlovac University of Applied Science with their professors as part of their fieldwork.

We are extremely pleased with the good response of the local community, hunters and interested public and their involvement in the work of the Local Consultative Groups.

We also distributed new project T-shirts, such little things always make our associates happy.
