The nationwide competition “My Country – Beautiful and Hospitable” is organised by the Tourist Association of Slovenia and focuses on the tidiness of places, the quality of tourist offerings, marketing and promotion of tourist products, and a clean environment. Many Slovenian towns and cities participate in the competition. They are visited and evaluated by a state commission composed of experts in landscape architecture, geography, tourism, sociology, architecture, ethnology, and others. This year, members of the expert committee visited 28 cities, 19 urban, villages, and town centers, 35 excursion points, 21 excursion sites, 10 youth accommodations, 18 campsites and glamping sites, and 25 thematic trails. Thematic trails compete in impression and attractiveness, management and maintenance, guidance and offer, accessibility and safety, as well as the message or interpretation of each trail.
The award ceremony took place on November 13 as part of the Days of Slovenian Tourism in Nova Gorica. We are proud to announce that the Lynx thematic trail won in the thematic trails category. The award was received by Nevenka Klun, the head of the tourism sector from the Public Institute for Tourism and Culture Kočevje. After the project, the Kočevsko Institute will take over the management of the trail. Together with the SFS (Kočevje Regional Unit) they will take care of the maintenance of the trail. In this way, lynx thematic trail will continue to enrich the tourist offer of Kočevje and further contribute to the protection of lynx through education.
