Sneška, is the only female lynx released into the Dinaric forests, and also the last lynx released in the scope of the LIFE Lynx project. She currently occupies a home range between Borovnica, Iški Vintgar, and Rakitna, where last year we confirmed her first reproduction in her new home. Camera traps have captured her with two kittens. This year, experts have confirmed she has three kittens, about a month old now. Two were also sampled with swabs for genetic analysis.

In March, experts have replaced Sneška’s telemetry collar and checked her health-status, which was found to be stable. An examination of her teeth showed significant wear, suggesting that she is likely older than previously determined. The new GPS collar will allow us to continue monitoring her movements, hunting behavior, and potential future litters, thereby helping us understand and support her contribution to improving the genetic health of the Slovenian Dinaric lynx population.
