Today another lynx was released into nature in Loški Potok, Slovenia. Lynx Boris was transferred from Romania three weeks ago and was adjusting to his new environment in a quarantine enclosure. During the quarantine, local hunters, veterinarian and project team members were in charge of the lynx. Stanko Anzeljc, chief of Loški Potok hunting club and his team were taking care of the lynx in the enclosure: We were checking the lynx every day. We regularly brought him fresh water and approximately once a week, roe deer meat, which we got from roadkill.
The release of lynx Boris into nature is also a part of the Slovenian Forest Week celebration, which is traditionally held in the last week of May. This year’s Forest Week’s slogan is “Let’s treat forests with respect!” and the LIFE Lynx project team adds, “Let’s treat forests and wildlife with respect!”
Good luck Boris!
