First lynx-based tourism package published on Discover Dinarics

Posted - Nov 21, 2018

First painting holidays were developed together with local academic painter and tourism agency which aims to connect painting with wildlife conservation. The program was published on the Discover Dinaric ecotourism portal. Guests will be painting every day outdoor, together with their painting mentor, they will be accompanied by local tourist guide, with good knowledge of local wildlife. The participants will meet LIFE Lynx project team – experts will take them to the field to see lynx hair and photo traps, and lectures about lynx biology, conservation and our project efforts will be given.

Presence of large carnivores offers an opportunity for locals to develop different wildlife based tourism products. Lynx story about extinction, reintroduction and reinforcement offers a great base to develop innovative tourism products, like painting holidays. Visual arts can foster conservation literacy and improve understanding of complex lynx conservation topics in different target groups, as arts speaks to people of all ages.
