Posted - Apr 17, 2021

Two new lynxes – female Aida and male Zois arrived from Romania to Gorenjska this Saturday, April 17. The transport of the lynx was done by an experienced team for live animal transfer from ZOO Ljubljana and Slovenia Forest Service team members. The trip went without any trouble, and the lynxes are now already settled in their temporary home on Jelovica plateau, from where they will be release into nature. While the lynxes are adjusting to their new environment, local hunters from Nomenj-Gorjuše Hunting Club will take care of them.

Since the lynxes are wild and timid animals, please do not approach the enclosure. The enclosure is in a secret location and we are monitoring its surroundings with video surveillance, and with the help of local hunters and inspectors.

With this translocation, the Romanian team from ACDB successfully finished the third lynx-capturing season. Congratulations to the team for capturing all together eight lynxes, that will help save the Dinaric-SE Alpine lynx population from extinction.
