Hunters Association of Slovenia (HAS) is the county’s main hunting organization, with almost 21.000 hunters operating in more than 400 hunting grounds as volunteers. It is is an independent hunter and non-governmental environmental association acting in the public interest. The Association’s mission is sustainable management of wild game, preservation of nature, education of hunters and promoting protection of nature through cooperation with other nature and environmental organizations.

For more than 110 years, HAS has provided a professional  and unified interest organization for hunters.  HAS members are hunting clubs and regional hunter associations across Slovenia, as well as other associations acting in the interests of hunting. HAS frames hunting in the wider community, forms common hunting interests and takes care of their enforcement, connects and informs members, supports environmental and nature preservation, hunting ground and game management and enforcement of law-defined assignments. Internal organization and workings of HAS ensure its independence, democratic decision-making, achievement of goals, responsible assignment execution, proportional teritiorial representation of its members and solidarity among members.

HAS has been a member of The European Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation (FACE) since 1983 and in the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) since 1991.
