Lynx workshops at hunting camps

Members of the LIFE Lynx project team know that raising awareness of children about the lynx endangerment is very important for its long-term conservation.

For this purpose, in July and August, we presented lynx to children as part of hunting camps in the Associations of Hunting Families from Brkinsko-Kraško area and Savinjsko-Kozjansko area. The children learned about the biology, ecology and endangerment of the lynx, the LIFE Lynx project, and about the movement of lynx in Slovenia according to the data from their telemetry collars. We also showed them footage and photos from the photo traps and after the lecture, we presented the tools used in lynx monitoring. The children listened with great interest and most of all, they liked the large carnivores’ footprints casts and the collars to monitor the movement of the lynx.
