Lynx Klif is still around and features on a Wildlife Biology Journal cover page!

Posted - Nov 19, 2025

Klif, a resident Eurasian lynx monitored within the LIFE Lynx project, has once again shown up – both in the forest and in the scientific community!

Klif was equipped with a telemetry collar in early spring 2022, which enabled us to follow his movements for two and a half years. Unfortunately monitoring ended too soon due to a collar malfunctioning in late 2024, leaving his status unknown. But in the end of September 2025, a camera trap recorded Klif in his territory, confirming that he is in a good physical condition and still the main cat in the area above the cliffs of the Kolpa river.

In addition to this good news, Klif was featured on the cover of the latest issue of Wildlife Biology. The accompanying article focuses on hunter-engaged monitoring of Eurasian lynx documenting the population recovery in Slovenia after a successful translocation project. Full article is available on the Nordic Society Oikos webpage.
