Final conference of the LIFE Lynx project and Eurolynx meeting

We are happy to invite you to the final conference of the LIFE Lynx project and Eurolynx meeting. This joint event is planned for September 26 – 29, 2023 in Zadar, Croatia.

Four-day program includes:

September 26 – final conference of the LIFE Lynx project

September  27 – field trip to National park Paklenica

September 28 and 29 – Eurolynx meeting.

On the first day, through a series of conference-type talks we will present our efforts to save the endangered Dinaric and SE Alpine lynx population (detailed program of the talks will be published later). We also invite all the participants to present their work on lynx research, conservation or management through posters that will be exhibited in the conference venue.

On the second day, we will visit National park Paklenica, a beautiful canyon where the Dinaric Mountains merge with the Adriatic Sea. One of the lynxes translocated within the LIFE Lynx project was released inside the canyon. We will organize a bus transport from Zadar to the park (about 1-hour drive) where you will have some free time for hiking, bird watching or swimming.

Third day – Eurolynx meeting. Eurolynx is a scientific network that promotes collaborative science based on knowledge and data sharing to investigate the ecology of the Eurasian lynx. We try to meet on yearly basis, to present on-going research and plan future collaborations. This event is open for the Eurolynx network members. If your institution is not a memebr of the Eurolynx network and you are interested to join, please contact Eurolynx coordinator prof. Marco Heurich ([email protected]).

We would be honoured to host you during the entire program but you can also join us only on specific days (please indicate which ones in the registration form). Participation in LIFE Lynx conference, filed trip and Eurolynx meeting is free of charge, but transport and accommodation have to be organized and financed by the participants. LIFE Lynx project will cover lunch on the first day and the expenses of the field trip, while all other meals have to be organized and covered by the participants.

VENUE, TRANSPORT and ACCOMMODATION:

Zadar has an international airport, 10 km away from the city centre. It can also be reached by bus, but the train network is not very efficient. Other near-by international airports are Split and Zagreb.

This Mediterranean gem is a very popular touristic destination, but in late September, we should get the best of it – nice weather and less touristic crowds. There are plenty accommodation options – from high-end hotels to budget hostels or apartments. Even though late September is the end of the main touristic season, make sure to book your accommodation in advance.

The conference venue is kindly provided by the University of Zadar and is located in the city centre.

Application deadline for participation is: May 30,  2023REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED!
